Scuba Jack in Print!

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I can not tell you how excited I am that Scuba Jack AND Majestic Harbor were featured in our local newspaper - The Gloucester Daily Times.  It was the first official article written ABOUT us in a publication.  The article was a good one too.  It really covered what we are about and where we are heading.  It makes my head spin! Sometimes it's hard for me to accept compliments, but that is what I got! I am having so much fun with this-- I sometimes can't really believe that this is happening to me!

March Madness Contest

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Spring is just around the corner.  For those of us in New England, it couldn't get here any faster.  It is this time of year, that I look forward to decorating my classrooms with bright festive colors.  This decor brings warmth to the classroom and gets the children looking forward to what is to come.

As an incentive to my teachers, I decided to have a "March Madness Contest".  Each teacher has been instructed to come up with new spring projects both for their students and for their classrooms.  At the end of the contest, I will award prizes of gift certificates to local restaurants.  This assigned task has brought a new enthusiasm to my  teaching staff.  Their creativity has been so impressive (I think we may need to come up with categories and hand out more than one reward)!

Check out our Craft pages for some of the results.  I will continue to post more and let you know which of my teachers are in the lead.  Go MHS staff!

Back to Basics

Today’s families move at warp speed, running straight from school to soccer, then on to hockey and wrapping up the daily running at gymnastics - all before settling in for the evening. Somewhere during all that running they have to find time to eat dinner, do homework, take showers, and try to get to bed at a reasonable hour. This is a daily ritual for most families these days, and all of the running and pressure can increase stress and anxiety tremendously for every member of the family. In order to survive and live a calmer, happier lifestyle, families need to collaborate more and find a way to balance these daily stresses.
